On the 11th of February 2020, NSS UNIT of K.L.E Society’s J. G. College of Commerce, Hubballi hosted One Day Workshop on Tobacco Control – Pledge for Life Tobacco Free Youth Campaign in association with State NSS Cell, Government of Karnataka and Sambandh Health Foundation, New Delhi. where NSS Programme Officers and Coordinators along with the NSS Volunteers from various institutions of Dharwad and Karwar Districts participated in the same marking more than 200 participated over the time from 10am to 2pm. The event was presided by Prof. T. M Bhaskar, Vice Chancellor Karnatak University Dharwad, Chief Guest – Dr. Abhimanyu, Oncologist, Narayan Hrudayalaya, Dr. M. B. Dalapati, Programme Co-ordinator, NSS Cell KUD, Shri Baba Bhusad, Local Governing Body Member of the esteemed host college, Dr. D. V. Honagannavar, Principal Degree & Shri. S. A. Gani, Principal PUC, Special Invitees – Dr. Somil Rastagi, Dr. Gayatri Reddy from Sambandh Health Foundation, New Delhi, Prof. V. S. Kattimath and Prof. Maglina Cruz, NSS Program Coordinators J. G. The Workshop focused on
- Statistics of the Tobacco Consumers in Karnataka and the stories behind some serious cases presented through audio-visuals.
- Roles of NSS Programme Officers and NSS Volunteers in promoting the purpose of the workshop i.e., “Pledge for Life – Tobacco free Youth”
- Voice of Tobacco Victims and diverse cases dealt with.
- Interactive Session with audiences and guests.
- The Social Media importance in the process and roles of the TCL (Tobacco Control Leader) SML (Social Media Leader) and reporting of the Activity done.
- Tobacco Epidemics and the Surveys to undergo by the volunteers.
- Awards ceremony for various achievers for the same.
