K.L. E. Society’s J. G. College of Commerce, Vidyanagar, Hubballi organized a symposium on India’s Freedom Struggle with special reference to Dandi March. The guest speaker Dr. Anita Kadagad Kembhavi spoke at length with PPT and Video clippings of the iconic Dandi March. She unfolded the events of our freedom struggle beginning from 1957 (Sepoy Mutiny) to 1947 (India’s Independence). She highlighted the significant role played by her grandparents Padmashree Sardar Virangouda V. Patil and Smt. Nagamma V. Patil during the freedom struggle.
In an inspiring talk on Dandi March i.e. Salt Satyagraha which began on 12th March, 1930 and concluded on 5th April, 1930, a 25 day march drawing thousands of people on its way covering 250 miles, she told that it was a civil disobedience movement which turned out to be a mass movement involving the populace of India to protest against the British Salt Tax. The British Government had the monopoly of manufacturing salt and on its distribution.
Prof. (Smt.) S. S. Patil in her presidential remark said that the symposium was part of the year long Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav culminating on 15th August, 2022. She told that the intention of Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi was to foster patriotism among the present day youth by re-creating the pre-independence atmosphere and make them aware of the struggle and scarifices of our ancestors which bequeathed freedom to us.
Miss. Gouri Tadas and friends presented the invocation, Prof. (Smt.) Netravati Gabbur accorded a warm welcome to the guest and the delegates. Prof. (Smt.) Ashwini Hongal introduced the Chief-guest. Prof. (Miss.) Poornima Dundur proposed vote of thanks and programme was compeered by Prof. (Smt.) Roshani Adhoni. Students and Staff members graced the occasion.
